Update: Rev B has stars replaced with 80 mins of 60sec RGB subs.

Had to re-crop slightly. Stars less sharp, but more realistic with softer nebula. I'll keep original as Final. I'm not so experienced with RGB stars, so maybe this is just more learning to do...

Melotte 15 in the Heart Nebula (IC 1805, Sharpless 2-190) in Narrowband SHO.

The CloudyNights Goofi's Imaging Challenge for October 2022 was The Heart Nebula. But since my new widefield rig remains waiting for a focus motor and not set up, and I took an ok 2-panel mosaic of the full Heart last year (https://www.astrobin.com/s2o0qp/), I decided again this month to go the other direction and go deep. I again used my narrowfield rig, currently a reduced EdgeHD 8", recently re-collimated.

Capture was multiple sessions between 7-27 Oct 2022. 32hrs total integration -- though honestly I got a really nice first draft at ~15hrs. This was my longest integration so far, and diminishing returns really come into play.

Unity gain, 0C, 120sec subs -- my new default since I have a much more stable mount now.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
